"In the creative process in the Visual Arts, and not only, the sketch or sketches that are made, before the final work, are the cornerstone of a work. Recording, what an artist imagines, his ideas, thoughts, and reflections through the drafts are the initial stage of conceiving a work. That is why they often include in them a dynamic greater than the final work."

George Gavriel was born in Nicosia and studied at the "Surikov" Academy of Fine Arts, Moscow. He graduated in 1987 with a degree in "Master of fine arts". From 1990 to 2008 he worked as an art teacher in Secondary Education, from 2008 to 2017 he worked as an art inspector in M.E. and since 2017 he has been working as a Principal in Secondary Education schools. At the same time, he is active in the artistic events of Cyprus and abroad, with frequent solo and group exhibitions. In 1984, the Surikov Moscow State Art Institute, organized his first solo exhibition in the halls of the Academy. He has participated in the Beijing Biennale in 2010, 2012, 2017 and 2019.  The National Museum of Art of China purchased his participating artwork at the 7th Beijing International Biennale. In 2013 he was awarded the State Illustration Award of Cyprus. His works are hosted in the books of Modern Greeks of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade of the Gymnasium. In 2018 he participated in the 1st Larnaca Biennale in Cyprus.
