Avyi Dikeou Kyriakidou works with embroidery as an art, a difficult and multifaceted task. Fabrics and their selection are only the first stage of the work. In addition to the inspiration that is primarily based on archaic patterns, other organic forms and nature, their transfer to fabric is a complex task. It takes a lot of study, drafts, choice of colors and materials, collected from many countries, threads, beads and collages. It still takes a long time of effort for each project. A key characteristic of textile prints is the three-dimensional structure and meticulous attention to detail.

 Avyi Dikeou Kyriakidou was born in Nicosia, Cyprus in 1946.

After graduating from Kykkou High School she went to Manchester where she studied Art and Design at Manchester College of Art and Design (now Manchester University) specializing in Fashion and Textiles.

After completing her studies, she returned to Cyprus where she initially worked in the fashion industry. Then for eighteen years she taught art in Secondary Education.

In her spare time, she experimented with various techniques, such as still life painting and nude painting, but her main interest is textile artwork.

So far, she has presented her textile art in two solo exhibitions in Nicosia, Cyprus 

And has also participated in several group exhibitions.

Her works are in private collections and in The Republic of Cyprus’s Art Collection.
