Kristia Andreou
Kristia Andreou is a painter of Cypriot and Bulgarian origin. She was born in Nicosia on February 19, 1994. She studied at the Cyprus Academy of Fine Arts in Limassol (2008-2010), obtaining the GCE in Fine Art. In 2012 she studied academic painting at the Bulgarian Academy of Fine Arts in Sofia. In 2016 she obtained a BA in Fine Arts from the University of the West of England in Bristol. Further, she obtained a Master degree of Fine Arts from Frederick University in Nicosia in a program based on Contemporary Art Practices (2016-2018).
Kristia as an artist likes to experiment with different materials and subjects. Her works take a critical look at social and cultural issues. In addition, her new series of works is inspired by memories and the human figure as the main protagonist. In this series of works, she uses oil paints on canvas.
2024
N O S T A L G I A
The artworks in this exhibition, entitled "Nostalgia”, are a heartfelt exploration of memories, a theme he dealt with in depth from 2022 to 2024. Through this paintings, she invites each viewer to connect with their own personal experiences and reflections of remembrance as well as searches from the past with a beacon of the present in a vague horizon of thought. It looks beyond the obvious and seeks careful observation from viewers. The challenge is for viewers to create bridges with the past by calling to the surface of their minds their personal memories.
The painter's goal is to inspire those who see her work to look more closely at the world around them but also at their inner world for our lost innocence.
